Students completing the 2014 online application have the opportunity to apply for any Stamford Dollars for Scholars scholarships for which they meet the criteria.

Agabhumi Scholarship for Community Service
in honor of Doris Kirshbaum

This is a one-year $3000 scholarship.  It is awarded to a student showing dedication to his or her community.  The student can attend a four-year or two-year college or university, or a vocational school program.

 

Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Scholarship

This general award is a one-year scholarship in the amount of $1,000.

 

Connecticut Information Technology Institute (CITI) 4-Year Scholarship

A renewable scholarship of $1,000 per year for four years is awarded to a student majoring in business, MIS or IS with a history of community service.

 

Connecticut Information Technology Institute (CITI) Digital Media Scholarship 

This scholarship is a one-time $1,000 award to a recipient pursuing a degree in Digital Media.

 

Daniela Romano Scholarship

This is a one-year scholarship in the amount of $1,000.  It is awarded to a minority, female student. The candidate's academic record/GPA must be in the top 50% of her class. Two teacher recommendations are required along with a one paragraph description of her career plans.

 

Eastern Land Management
Horticulture/Landscape Scholarship

This is a one-year scholarship in the amount of $1,000.  It is awarded to a student who will be pursuing a horticulture/landscape (turf may be considered) related degree program.  The student must attend a two-year or four-year institution.

 

 

Financial Industry Technical Services, Inc. (FITS)
Business Scholarship

This is a $1,000 scholarship renewable for four years and is open to students planning a major in business, accounting, finance or economics.


Dr. Robert B. Goldman, Goldman Orthodontics,
Scholarship for Sciences

This is a one-year scholarship in the amount of $1,000.  It is awarded to a student who will be pursuing a degree in any field of science.  The student must attend a two-year or four-year institution.


Nancy J. Heron Memorial Scholarship

This is a one-year scholarship in the amount of $1,500.  Preference will be given to a student who attended Dolan Middle School.  The student can attend a two-year or four-year college or university, or vocational school.

 

National Society for the Gifted and Talented Scholarship

This is a one time $1,000 scholarship for students who have scored in the gifted range on the PSAT, SAT, ACT or SSATB.

 

Nina Seward Memorial Scholarship

This is a one-year scholarship in the amount of $2,000.  It is awarded to a student who will be pursuing a Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics or Engineering degree. The student must attend a four-year institution. 

 

Remus M. Brice, Jr.
Memorial Scholarship

This is a one-year scholarship in the amount of $1,000.  It is awarded to a student who has lost one or both parent(s) or is planning to study nursing and receive an RN.  The graduating student must meet the academic requirements for RN-Nursing Admission


Robinson & Cole Scholarship

This is a $1,000 scholarship for students interested in the law.

 

Stamford Dollars for Scholars
Community Service Award

This is a one-year scholarship in the amount of $1,000. Eligibility is based on a combination of need and academic performance. It is awarded to the student who has volunteered his or her time in support of Stamford Dollars for Scholars efforts. The student can attend a four-year or two-year college or university, or a vocational school program.

 

Stamford Federal Credit Union Scholarship

This is a one year $1,000 general scholarship.

 


Thomson Reuters Scholarship

This is a one year $1,000 general scholarship.  This award profile is open to any student graduating a city of Stamford high school OR a Stamford resident graduating from an out of town high school. The student must be planning to be a full-time student at an accredited 4-year  or 2-year college/university. Eligibility is based on a combination of need and academic performance. The student is to demonstrate the ability to succeed with a specific focus on the goal of completing the course of study. Preference given to student of a Thomson Reuters employee.

 

Cognizant - Women Empowered(WE) STEM Award

This is a one year $1,000 scholarship.  It is awarded to a female student pursuing education in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math  (STEM).
 

Whittingham Family Award

This is a renewable scholarship in the amount of $2,000.  Scholarship is need and merit based; and community service must be demonstrated. Students pursuing math, science, engineering  IS or MIS major at a 2 year or 4 year institution may apply.

This is a renewable scholarship in the amount of $1,000.  The student must be planning to be a full-time student at an accredited 2-year college/university or a program of vocational training. Eligibility is based on a combination of need and academic performance. The student needs to demonstrate the ability to succeed with a specific focus on the goal of completing the course of study.  The student can attend a two-year college or vocational program.
