The student must be planning to be a full-time student at an accredited 2 year or 4 year college/university, vocational or technical school. A letter of recommendation from a teacher is required, as well as an essay demonstrating commitment, career goals and details of community service. Eligibility is based on a academic performance, minimum graduating GPA of 3.0. Additional consideration will be given to candidates of Indian sub-continent origin. Student will be asked to attend the GOPIO annual gala in June 2017 to be honored at the event, and volunteer in a GOPIO community activity sometime during the term of their award (based on availability, to be arranged directly with GOPIO-CT).
